Bec’s Bio

Bec has been working in the media industry for over a decade and has pretty much given everything a go but her true passion lies in comedy. She can be seen each week streaming on Twitch, mostly goofing about (painting walls, “playing” harmonica, lighting matches - normal Twitch activities).

Bec recently performed her first solo stand-up show Merry at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with “understated punchlines dispensed with dry wit and the occasional diversion into silliness” (The Age). She also wrote and presented Media Breakdown (C31), a comedy program breaking down media myths to fix up media literacy, made with the support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation, Bec also received funding through Screen Australia to develop an original web series sitcom Swamped alongside friend and collaborator Kate Dehnert.

Bec can be seen performing in Get Krack!n (ABC), helping behind the scenes on Sammy J's Playground Politics (ABC) and writing on Shaun Micallef's Mad As Hell (ABC) and kid’s news satire show Definitely Not News (ABC ME). Bec also appeared as Randy’s struggling assistant in the livestreamed show Feltface Time (Dynasty Typewriter) and has shown off her recall for current affairs multiple times as a guest on RN Drive’s Friday Quiz (ABC Radio National).

She is one of the founding directors of Stupid Old Studios, working as producer on cult favourite web series Gamey Gamey Game. At the production house, Bec also co-wrote and starred in the award-winning comedy program Australia, Get It Up Ya! (C31) and was a first round recipient of the Fresh Blood initiative, creating Australia Think Tank (ABC).

In her free time she has also recorded, edited and produced many comedy podcasts and YouTube shows, from conception to completion, such as comedy food review podcast and lifestyle choice Kentucky Fried Chattin'.

In the online sphere, Bec worked at The Project (Channel 10) as Social Media Manager before being promoted to Digital Editor, shaping the online success of the program to what it is today. Putting her digital skills to use again, she worked as Social Lead for Australia Talks (ABC), a huge collaborative project across the ABC, culminating in a special live broadcast.  Bec also edited and audio engineered The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron, a podcast presented by true crime giant Casefile and distributed exclusively by Spotify. In 2021, Bec directed live comedy shoots for Splendour XR, producing three hours of performances for online festivalgoers. Bec's online know-how informs her creativity, crafting content perfect for a digital audience.

Back to Twitch - Bec is a regular streamer on the platform, showing off her average video game skills and above average ability to analyse the Australian deli meat industry. She’s a member of streaming team The Aristocrats, led by comedian Jordan Raskopoulos, alongside friends and frequent collaborators Naomi Higgins, Lena Moon and Ben Russell.

As both a production house and thriving hub for comedians, Bec has helped manage and maintain Stupid Old Studios from assisting in day-to-day operations to watering the plant in the hallway that seems to be growing into the wall.

Previously, Bec worked professionally within the community media sector as a Content Development Coordinator at SYN Media, assisting young people in making both radio and TV programs.

She also holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Monash University which has proved useful as a comedy prop.
